The living dead

A quest in Shroud of the Avatar, given by Siranto at Ardoris. This quest gives you no experience & nothing as a reward and has 7 comments.

Siranto, the Shogun of Ardoris, charged me with speaking with Minister Pintar on finding a way to stop the undead menacing the city.

Under circumstances that I don’t even bother to describe I was ushered in front of the Shogun of Ardoris, Siranto. We spoke about “helping” Ardoris about an army of “undead” that threaten the lands. And of course about stopping them. The stopper being me. Because I’m the chosen one, the Avatar… I weakly said “yes” to him.

Anyhow, I was informed to talk to minister Pintar. He was downstairs and looked quite grim indeed. He told me that the undead army must be “stopped”.

“Pintar, Foreign Minister of Ardoris, told me that the only way to stop the undead threat to that city would be to somehow convince Thanatos, the undead leader. To even speak to him, I would need to engage the services of a spirit-walker.”

Pintar told me of these “spirit talkers”. There are two in the glorious city of Ardoris and their names are Samael and Kardan. And they reside usually in Peladjar Inn. I was indeed feeling thirsty after these debated with two mighty lord of Ardoris.

“Pintar told me that I could find the spirit-talkers Samael and Kardan at the Peladjar Inn, in Ardoris.”

I was on my way when a thought came to me. Everyone in this city is divided in their opinions. They go either to the Palace of the Winds or Palace of the Mountain. In the Mountain lives the Shogun and in the Winds lives Priestess Khasi. I went to the Palace of the Winds to see if I could talk to Priestess Khasi. I had trouble getting in, because they needed a password. Guard was very helpful and explained that I could obtain one from the Peladjar Inn. After getting in, we spoke about the dead that should be resting in loving peace and are angered and seek to spread their hatred. I agreed to take the challenge.

“Khasi, the Priestess of Ardoris, charged me with speaking with one of her advisors on finding a way to stop the undead menacing the city.”

I found Priestess Khali’s advisors, Mothers of Peace and Beauty, but they had nothing of value to say. Maybe I asked the wrong questions…

Then I went to the Peladjar Inn. Ordered few pints for me and those around.  Then I approached Samael and spoke for some time. He really does not make friends easily. Even harder than me. But finally after long talks about “Necropolis” and “help” and “undead” we came to a conclusion that he can be my spirit talker on my quest of finding peace with Thanatos, lord of the undead by “accepting” his rules.

“I have contracted with the spirit talker, Samael to be my guide through Necropolis, the city of the undead, in search of the mystery of why the undead are attacking Ardoris.”

I sneaked to Necropolis to find out what was ahead me. I found two VERY large skeletons in from of me and I ran towards the entrance of the Necropolis to be in the safety of the doors.

How wrong was I.

I found Kardan inside with me. Samael nowhere to be seen. Door won’t open so I could get outside. So I cast light. I walked towards and found a large room with two huge undead standing with Kardan. I relaxed a bit and saw movement in the peripheral vision; three large footman skeletons were running towards me.

I was defeated. I got up and was defeated again. Many times. Finally I managed to cast a spell that released me from the spirits grasp and got out to breather fresh air.

What a nightmare. It will take a lot of time to get me to Necropolis again.

  2. Dont choose kardan mambane, he is not able to translate correct and you will not be able to finish the quest. also if you arrive at the end of the necropolis, thanatos the king will ask for samael.
if you choose samael the translations are correct and your journal does update.

  4. There is an Odd Adoris Citizen, who if you talk to him, will tell you not to trust the friendly spirit talker. This is your hint not to talk to the obnoxious guy at the bar, but instead to talk to the grumpy one at the table.

  6. I believe Khasi, in one of her responses about spirit-talkers will recommend Samael as well.
I finished the first part of this with a trip to the Shuttered Eye. Totally forgot the second part and talking to Pintar. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
